I just love "The Biscuit."
Please don't tell me I'm the only one who finds herself saying "I'm troubled. I'd like to take a moment." Or "Chagrined."

Why do I get such a kick out of this show?

Partly because I think The Biscuit is adorable: "The world is no longer a romantic place, some of its people still are however, and therein lies the promise. Don't let the world win, Ally McBeal."

Partly because I'm a woman and enjoy the chick chat sessions vicariously: "Men are like gum anyway, after you chew they lose their flavor."
"I'm sure she is quite stupid and in time gravity will get her."

Partly because I'm so good at embarassing myself to death: (After Ally backs into a bathroom stall and sits on Georgia)

Georgia-- This will probably teach me to lock the door. (long pause) Don't get up.
Ally-- I would, but I'm lacking the words. I'm also lacking any feelings in my feet. This happens sometimes when I'm embarrassed.
Georgia-- Is there any way I can help?
Ally-- Nope, I apologize. It's good to see you. (Exits the stall to see Georgia's husband [it's a unisex restroom] looking at her.) You might think there's an explanation, but you'd be wrong.

Partly because I'm a person who can emphasize with Ally's Stop-the-World-I-Wanna-Get-Off bewilderment: "The real truth is that I probably don't want to be too happy or content, cuz then what? I actually like the quest, the search, that's the fun, the the more lost you are the more you have to look forward to, what do you know, I'm having a great time and I don't even know it."

Partly because she sings (like I truly used to sing) "Goodnight My Someone": "You know I just got this piano, sometimes I sing this song it's called "Goodnight My Someone"..and it's about..well, basically it's a love song about someone you never met but you know is out there. And I dunno we make so few promises to ourselves as we grow up and one of them is that on our wedding day we walk down the aisle with someone we love. Somebody who does make your heart bounce, I guess. And there are some promises, that I think we have to keep."

And partly because I used to be a legal secretary. Fishisms are funny because I've heard them before more and less: "new firm policy, listen up. Anybody who sues this firm, or me personally, we all drop whatever cases we are working on, and devote all our intellectual and creative efforts to ruining that person's life? Are we clear? I do not want to stop short with getting even, retribution, not strong enough: ruin. That's the goal. Irreversible, irreparable, irrational, ruin. New firm policy."
"Let me tell you something, I didn't become a lawyer because I like the law, the law sucks. It's boring, but it can also be used as a weapon. You want to bankrupt somebody? Cost him everything he's worked for? Make his wife leave him, even make his kids cry...yeah, we can do that."

Ally's wacky shrink advised her to select a theme song to play in her head when she needs confidence. Ally selected Tell Him by The Exciters, Words and Music by Bert Russell, which peaked at #4 in 1963, and for which I am searching in MIDI format:
